So I have been wondering this a lot lately only because I am new to the video editing world, but what is your choice in video editing software? I am currently using Camtasia, but I have used Corel. Camtasia seemed to offer me a little bit more of what I was looking for then Corel. I have also heard that some people like Sony Vegas.

What's your guys opinion on editing softwares?

I have actually tried a lot of editing softwares, and one kinda nooby but really nice laying is filmora, yes its a bit of a default and i guess the noobs editing software, but i really enjoyed using it and it has quite a bit of depth into it.

Yea, I have tried Filmora. I liked it, but I preferred Camtasia.

I use DaVinci Resolve. It's studio grade software and best of all, it's free. Has a ton of features and useful tools.

Sony vegas purely because it's just what I learned with and never switched.
Now it's too late to learn Premiere + Vegas does everything I want it to do anyways so.....

totally agree. they fulfill basic needs for editing but if your working on large scale projects! then Adobe Premiere Pro is the best choice.

coming from someone in the industry the way that we would edit videos, be it movies, ads or whatever our clients ask for

Adobe Premiere to split the clips since you can get live feedback without a super computer

Adobe After Effects + C4D for all the cool effects

Adobe Premiere / SVP for retouching and small post-processing effects
though we have also had a professional "photoshopper" come in and retouch every frame by hand but that's not really expected

i've seen freelancers in my office running DaVinci Resolve though, good free alternative that i've used in the past

so:
Adobe Premiere Pro, for splitting clips, i don't really use it for editing but making sure that your clips are split correctly can be the most important thing

Adobe After Effects, fucking amazing for editing, nothing can compare to after effects, especially in how SLOW it is, but with great slowness comes great power

C4D/blender/maya, most essential part of CGI editing and stuff, allows for some seriously sweet effects

Sony Vegas Pro, decent software, used it before i got after effects and wouldn't mind using it again but i'm an adobe fanboy and don't see much use in it

Filmora, literally trash money grab, avoid at all costs, its mega gay and is on par with editing a movie on your ipad, not a huge amount of originality can be tied with filmora

For me the Premiere Pro is the best, constantly updates, integration with Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects, a lot of templates e presets that you can download for free...
