I think the best programs are from Adobe
This is purely my opinion, but I advise everyone

For video editing I recently saw an article about DaVinci Resolve. It is said to be used from current leading movie creators for cinemas and it is free. I might give it a try in future though I've been using the Adobe stack for a long time.

I use Premiere beacuse I also use Lightroom and plan on using After Effects and Photoshop, it's easier for using the same file between programs, but I don't think Premiere is best, it crashes a FUCKING LOT,

and when you need it the most it decides to go full retard and won' export or render your file. Also have fun melting your pc.

Overall I don't think it's the best video editing software but If you plan on using more adobe programs interchangeably I think it would suit you the best.

Camtasia studio is easy to use, but better is Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas.

Decent replacements are Filmora, more of a Final Cut replacement. Photoshop replacement is Affinity Photo and Designer.

Good thinking. Completely agree.
