A werewolf is a mythological creature that has the ability to turn (to turn around, spread) from human to animal or Vice versa. A werewolf taking the image of the wolf, is a Werewolf.

The transformation of man into animal is a very common theme in the mythologies of different peoples of the world. So, in "the Word about Igor's regiment" describes the seizure of Novgorod by Vseslav of Polotsk and the battle on the Nemiga. Vseslav is represented by a sorcerer and a werewolf. And in the ethnic culture of the North American Indians appeal to the animal-totem tribe is an indicator of a higher fusion with the spirit of an ancestor. In Scandinavia it was believed that the Berserkers are able to spread in the bears and wolves. Hero of Russian epics vol'ga Svyatoslavich turned into "left-beast", "fish-suchinai", "chestnut tour-Golden horn", "small gornoslaska", "little bird-plasica" and other animals. In Russian folklore, the Fiery serpent can turn into a beautiful young man and, as such, to visit women and Kashchey the Immortal has the ability of turning into various creatures. In Turkic mythology, the werewolf gulabani referred to as the evil person dwelling in deserted places and frightening everyone.
