Hello, i was wondering for my friend as to what laptop he should get. His main purpose is to start a net, and normal browsing.
Budget: $300

It's just for running a net. I have never started a net but i'm pretty sure it doesn't require a fancy laptop.

I bought my macbook pro for $400. And it's actually really good. 8gbs of ram and I can run CSGO at Ultra settings at around 30fps.

So $300 can afford you some decent specs if you know where to look and if you're willing to wait for a deal.

Do you have any site recommendations? I have no knowledge about laptops as i built my own PC and i'm trying to help someone else.

Newegg, Ebay, and Facebook Marketplace. Also recommended to check out this reddit group

They'll post deals on PC parts frequently, keep an eye out for deals. I also recommend making comments asking about specific Laptops, if you're unsure if it's worth the price.

I would also like to recommend getting a used laptop, if you can find a Thinkpad they are pretty good. I still use one from 2005 or 2006 when I need to try out a program without VM and it works okay for that.

I'd check out second hand laptops as I'm sure you'll be able to get a good one if you shop wisely. I got a very cheap Lenovo ThinkPad X220 for 200 US$ two years ago. I was lucky as the user hadn't used it that much and it was in excellent condition. I'm sure if you search around you'll find something similar. Laptops drop in value almost immediately after they come out in the market.
