I thought the first season of True Detective was some of the most inventive and solid storytelling, directing and acting theres been on tv in a long while. Yeah, it may have had some issues with its female characters not being terribly strong or well written from a "feminist" standpoint, but it was largely a pulp/noir type throwback, and never presented itself as anything different. I love Bojack, but it seems like picking on True Detective was a jab for the sake of it being a jab, despite the issues it brought up being legitimate issues with many shows in the modern tv landscape.
