What is the best way to run a dedicated server?

I'm currently working on a Garry's Mod DarkRP server and a Minecraft server for me and my friends, but I'm doing it off of my current PC that I'm using. I've been looking for a better way to run this server, and I've thought about buying a new PC specifically for running the server. Is this the best way to go about it, or is there another way?

You should buy a vps server, it's better than buying a new pc and it's cheaper.

Just buy an VPS server! It really not expensive and you can do everything with it! You can install different operating systems!
