What makes you, you?

What defines anyone as a person? Is it their beliefs, experiences, possessions, personality, soul or something else?
How do you define who you are to others, and what your existence is?

I'd like to say that I am more than just what I have, and who I engage with, but what really defines who someone is?
This only compounds if you have to "act" a certain way around people. Are you really your ideal version of yourself if you conform to others ideals? It's rather an odd question, but it has been something I've thought about for many years and never could find a true answer as to "who" I am.


Better question is, with the many interpretations and definitions this can have, are any of these the "correct" definition?

Courage, hard upbringing has given me this. I had a rough childhood and now I never back down from conflict. It might be dumb sometimes, but I have insane control in sticky situations now. Ive seen people with me get stabbed and almost die, i've been in crazy groupfights and i've fought alot of kickboxing matches and train grappling atm.

This is what makes me, me. not perfect as i've gotten beat up by groups and had my fair share of unneccesary conflict but ille take the bad with the good.

This is deep as hell lol, but I would honestly say that my ability to laugh off hostile situations, like a bully or something I can just brush it off and move about my way.

Yh, kinda me too, i am god at making up stories and trick ppl when i want, also, my personality and calmness catch up ppl eyes easily.

How I define myself?
Well, usually when I introduce myself it also depends on who I'm introducing myself to.

Let's say I was applying for a job. I'd define myself as hardworking, persistent, very social and a good leader. I do possess all those traits, most people would agree.

If I was introducing myself to someone on campus here, like someone sitting next to me, I'd try to sound a little more relatable. I'd probably tell them that there's a course or project that I'm fucking up, then introduce myself, potentially mentioning something about anime, but maybe in a more derogatory way, so they aren't intimidated by it. "oh yeah, and i fucking watch those animays because what else is there to do in my spare time than doing my school work."

Now let's say I was introducing myself to a compsci student here on campus. (For the record I'm in English Lit.) I'd say something like "oh yeah, and I really hate compsci students, it's a bit of a personal vendetta." and smile cheerfully. I actually really do hate compsci kids, because most of them are shitty code monkeys that can't get past first semester of first year compsci here. But I can talk to them about code, and they can still relate back to me.

If I was introducing myself to a friend of a friend, with said friend there, I probably wouldn't introduce me, my friend would. It usually goes along the line of "oh yeah, this is Deadboy. He might seem like an asshole and most people do hate him, but he's a pretty chill dude. He's good at cooking and will give you some good-ass food if you come to him high asking for something to eat." But it could vary, depending on who the person introducing me is, like if they don't do drugs or their friend doesn't, they won't say that, but if they or their friend watches anime they might mention that I'm a weeb. It always depends on the person I'm meeting.

Probably being one of the most stubborn people i've ever met. I'm one of the greatest dicks you'll find around if i'm in a bad mood or shit goes wrong. I try to keep myself chilled on here tho as it seems pointless fighting over pixels
