What programming language to start with?

When i started my apprenticeship in IT, the language we started with in trade school was Java. But Python is a great language to start off with as well, make sure you check some MOOCs out on the subject.

Depends on what you want to do with your knowledge of programming. I got into programming when I was a teenager with Python, but I quickly moved onto C++ because my ultimate goal was game development. If your goal is web dev, learn Javascript, HTML/CSS and maybe dabble in PHP (not really required, but would be good to have under your belt).

Python is definitely a good choice for beginners, if you play Garry's Mod, you can learn GLUA , it's beginner friendly and very fun to learn!

if you want to program something specific sites, games then learn the language on which they are written, if you have not decided then teach the standard python, ++

I mainly do HTML/CSS since it's what I need with web design and formatting on forums an similar. It depends what you wanna do with it really, if you just want to learn it without an end goal in mind I imagine it'll be harder to really develop a strong interest for it.

Learn what ever language you see use for, there is no perfect first language. Everyone here is going to say a different language its preference just pick something you will be motivated to learn

Python or maybe some lua. lua is a great starting point but I started with php and that was good too

Python is #1! Easy to learn and are great language to have in your resume.

As much as i hate Python, i'd say that's probably where you're better off starting. It helps you understand some basic knowledge of how code can be built and changed
