First and best OS i used was Linux back in working at Computer Repair shop in 2012 before windows came out and Linux gives you more ability do lot more then MAC and Windows but thing you might thinking is Windows and MAC OS are basses as Linux but all coded in BIOS firmware's. so for me i would say Windows 10 most best then linux since you can run Ubuntu inside Windows using SUB-OS packages and Install Ubuntu by Windows store. other that i used dual boot OS but win 10 more backwards OS inside windows 10.

and linux i use was Ubuntu, Redhat and Cent OS 6/7 keep you reminded.

In a perfect world I'd be running a Linux based OS but my mortal ties to games that don't have a Linux port are forcing me to continue to run Windows 10 which is arguably one of the worst iterations of Windows created. Even after having put HOURS into disabling some of the "features" Windows 10 offers it still is able to surprise me by doing some completely shady action by default. It's like the devs never even tested it for more than a few days at a time before deciding to ship it.

If your OS makes daily usage more of a chore by design you don't deserve to work on or have any part in contributing to OS development.

All I can say about that is MSMG Toolkit.
It modifies the contents of the ESD/WIM files of the Windows installer images and you can remove some contents from them pretty easily.

There are some downsides to removing some features (since you wind up with an unstable OS after doing so) and you have to avoid updating entirely since updates can potentially reinstall or add new programs you might not like from Microsoft.

Also the moment we port DirectX and .NET Framework over to UNIX systems is the moment Microsoft goes off their rockers with legal threats. Also let's not forget about the games that are strictly Windows 10 only.
So far the only game that I know is Windows 10 only is State of Decay 2 and the repetition in that game bores me to no end.

Linux will always be superior in terms of agreements and cost as well as the possibilities with light weight operating systems but in terms of software vs hardware windows can't be beaten with its support for most hardware available as well as the stability provided.

Depends on what your priorities are.

Windows is easy to use, has plenty of the best software and games but can't be customized easily and then there's the virus problem.
Linux has a learning curve to it, but you are free from any copyright and most viruses are built for windows so you're safe.
OSX is a balance between the 2, it's not as highly customizable as linux and then once again apple hardware lock unless you build a hackintosh

My suggestion?
Dual boot windows and any flavor of linux you like.

Tails. Linux is by far the best operating system for privacy and reliability. However, you lose many functions of Windows in the process.

It depends what you wanna do. For normal day to day usage Linux is not a good idea. Windows became so good that there is no reason to use something else. BUT ;-)
I'm on Mac OS since 2012 and I already tried to switch to Windows but if you've really used the Mac OS extensively I don't see a chance to change back in the near future. It's not about the programs or that Windows would run any less stable - its about the programming framework and the design of the applications. Every single app looks so much better on Mac OS. And that's the single one reason for me to stay with them.

I've used a hackintosh until the end of last year and I would not recommend anybody to build one. If you're student and have time okay, but if your time is limited and you could make money instead of updating this crazy machine...no way this thing pays off.
