I think - Windows 10. For older - Windows 7. For very old - Windows XP. For terribly old - Windows 95/98 / ME. For the ancients - MS DOS. For other consoles - the emulator ... and the list of OS (+ emulator) starts again Smile

I thought this thread was going to be about something else entirely, hah. Either OS will get you where you need to go unless you're aiming for something specific, in which case... what are you hoping to play? Smile

If you have to choose Windows 10. Then go with edition with least extras, I think Home.
Personally I would use Windows 7 tho.

Well Windows 10 is great if you have a computer that can handle it easily. Don't jump on me, "tHiS iSn'T 2005 aNyMoRe"-squad, there are people still playing on old machines, playing WoT, LoL and CS:GO mainly.
Windows 10 does a lot of crap in the background and uses lots of RAM, downloads updates on its own and sends diagnostics data now and then. Checks for updates and bakes cookies. Have I mentioned its full of bloatware?
All this can affect your gaming experience.
Windows 7 still holds up great, and you won't miss on anything. Its stable, finished, and really well done. If you have a low to mid end computer you might gain a bit by using Windows 7, but it varies from user to user.
Windows 10 is newer and has great features but Windows 7 is better resource wise.

My opinion.

Windows for now. Linux in a few years. It's already getting there. Just hold out

For gaming only and if you do not need the extra stuff of Pro like: Domain Join, Remote Desktop and Bitlocker (few to mention). You are going to be just fine with Home edition. I would suggest to use 64-bit install if your system supports it.

Honnestly Win7 is good and cheap, but i prefer Win10 for the performance and the design
