Who is the best to play as?

I have just started playingand would like to know who is the best character to play as?

I think that its importmant to do whatever you want.

If you're new and casual stick to what you want and like, its all about the character personality and playstyle, so try diferent things and watch the cinematics, if you wanna go competitive its a whole different story, untill you reach diamond I recommend filling in for healer if you dont have healers, tank if you have healers and dont have tanks and then dps, try to prioritize characters that can heal themselves but can get kills easly. Zenyatta, Roadhog and Soldier 76 are good examples, when you get to diamond you are dealing with a different beast, you are going to have to learn how to play a lot of characters, their situational uses and how to play as team rather than a solo carry mentality or a 'I wanna main a character' mentality.

I would say as a beginner playing as Zenyatta is probably a prefered option. Not only is he a good support character. He is also very strong and scary. His damage buff plus a well 3 accurate shots of his "energy balls" can instant ko. Not only that his charged shots is ridiculous to tanks.

Mercy is my favourite and the one i started out with, have fun with overwatch!
