Because Linux is open source and all server management tools are there and do not need large resources

Windows is not a good option for server hosting. Windows is bloated and comes with features you'll never use, while Linux mostly (with the exception of Ubuntu) comes barebones so you can install only the stuff you'll actually use. Linux is also often considered more secure as Windows has plenty more vulnerabilities. Graphical user interfaces usually don't mean a better system.

I am a developer, as such linux is better suited for dev stuff. You need to overcome the first learn curvr, once done linux is a much better system, even if you think about backup and control of the software and content, much more easylly done with linux

In Windows, almost always during the installation or removal of software, updating your system or most other changes in the system, you must restart the computer. In Linux, after the initial installation, you can install or remove most of the software without having to reboot the computer.

Actually, Linux is not safer. While Microsoft Server platforms are much more expensive, they also have upgraded securities that are kept up in realtime - something open source like Linux could never achieve.

Lol? Something like Linux created by a huge community that reacts quickly to bugs and vulnerabilities. Calling the closure of the code a plus can only old people from 2002. I would even say that its closeness is a minus for security. The latest vulnerability reports (which are not reported by microsoft until it is fixed) proves this

Linux is way better for hosting than windows, for the unique reason that you can exploit at 100% the os if your're admin , on windows even if you're the owner and the admin you're blocked

User privacy, many different user options, large helpful community, etc.

The reason a lot of people still use windows over linux is because video game support in linux is still lackluster.

I would say that in hands of experienced administrator both systems could be safe and secure. But Linux is more flexible and simple to configure. You can even make your own build of OS for your server.
