When I was mining, I noticed something called Monero Original along with XMR, I don't understand why this split happened. I'm sorta new to theCryptomining scene.

Most likely for profit... More coins being mined more profit that can be made. Maybe \_()_/

Monero's team is trying to eliminate ASIC's from their protocol. Though I think monero's protocol could handle it unlike DASH. BTC handles it the best i'm still mining BTC with ASIC's

If you don't mind me asking, what is an ASIC?

Application Specific Integrated Chip. It's basically a computer that is only designed to mine one algorithm, BTC being the SHA-256 algorithm. Which allows these ASIC's to have a lot more mining power than GPU's and CPU's

ASIC is a type miner... You can mine crypto-coinswith it. :money:

I don't see why they would try to get rid of it, are they more focused on mining from a pool?

Idk... I guess not. Smile

A lot of people who mine with GPU's dont like ASICs. Hence due to the pressure the monero team forked

Think it's just to try and stop ASIC's mining it TBH.
It's a good move if they want more people to mine it using their computer processors. It will also help keep things like Coinhive afloat, which Nulled uses for their mining feature, though it's hardly profitable.
I think that Coinhive might move to the new branch once it's complete (if it hasn't already)
