Why did they make csgo free?

I left steam years ago and now come back to see csgo is free? why?

I think they wanted to make people try out the game since it was dying

I think they knew that Counter-Strike was doing well, the game was starting to die so they backed it up with a free version and then they were going to make it pay to access, but instead they added expensive skins.

Because it benefits them, and you can collect more money from idiots who buy premium status.

Never really got into that game because I always thought it was kind pointless, recently I thought about giving it a try but they made it free. No thanks cheaters.

They needet money step one - make it free - step 2 - make bettle pass. Easy money

They were trying to promote their new update and gain more money. This didn't affect the normal playerbase due to a thing called trust factor. People who have been playing longer without their account being suspicious goes higher in the trust factor rank. Although you can't see it you can def notice it.

they shouldnt have made it free, now there are alot of automated bots to level up accounts and sell them. If you play competetive without prime then ur done for
