It serves no purpose to resurrect a thread from say, a year ago.
Anyone know why people do it?

Because people are retarded, don't care, and don't read dates. Mainly people who wanna spam 15 posts then peace out. Those kinds of people usually get banned. Only one I really excuse besides legitimate quality responses is forum game threads, tbh

Some people just pay no attention to the date or just simply overlook it. If everyone just took 5 extra seconds to check it would not be happening.

I Actually think that necrothreading a post is better than creating a new one for the same content.

Agreed, I feel like bumping an old thread with info that could be relevant or needs to be updated is always better than making a new thread.

From my experience, they google a topic, find a thread, and then post on it without checking the date.

For example say I searched, "How to fix no audio from speakers". Then, I find a thread on a tech forum explaining how to fix. The thread is from like 4 years ago. I click on it, and the method provided doesn't work. I reply stating it doesn't work for me. I didn't bother checking the date.
