Why is anime so popular?

Everyone used to hate anime, now it's kind of mainstream.

Because the haters actually tried watching anime and noticed that it is not as bad as they thought I guess.

i think because so many episodes and we wanna watch all of them

Because people sometimes hangs perspective, dont blame them.

I totally agree.

Back when I started watching them, it wasn't nearly as cool as it is right now.
The reason the are so popular is most likely due to the fact they adress a lot of different tastes and because they came to be popular only now due to taking a while to spread.

I think it wasn't really understood at least in western communities especially but now finally it is being appreciated.
Also there is so much variety that anyone can find something they like.

because people fantasise of it

I agree with this & I think another big thing is this people who grew up on things like Toonami & Adult Swim are coming back and showing their kids anime.

I think another thing is things spread a lot quicker on the internet nowadays than 10 years ago or so, so cult classics can become mainstream quite quickly.

People who grew up with Adult Swim probably watch anime now.
