I think it is likely that this is due to block style graphics that differentiate it from other games.

Well it didnt start off being meant for kids but when microsoft took over it went for a all out kid experience and then homeschoolers use it for educational purposes for kids now these days.

Cuz they dont play for minecraft, i have 20 age and i like to play minecraft.
That is normal in world, if game has not good graphics = shit, but its not true!

I think it's because of the "child friendly" factors of the game and the blocks register as legos to "non-players" (which is a whole other discussion on its own)

I honestly like to see a poll of age groups that play the game.

Mainly because the fanbase is full of kids that rage every time they die and such. Once you see tons of minecraft recommended videos that are posted by kids, the first thought would be: "Yeah, this is a game for kids."

Because of its simplicity at first glance. After all, if you see the minecraft for the first time, you are likely to ask yourself: what are these cubes and how old are the children who play it...
