Nvidia is known for some gimmicks out there such as DMM (digital Molecular Matter). DMM was suppose to be a realistic physics engine. DMM and RTX combined could make a life like game. I personally own a RTX 2060 but I don't have any games capable of ray tracing. One of the major problems with RTX is that the framerate is snapped in half when the effect is on according to people who have tested the RTX effect.

It is still a new technology, but I believe it is something to stay, improving it soon adds to all video processors and we will forget.

I believe we're still on the context of developing the technology to be in everyday applications and games.
I think Nvidia has gone further in pursuiting this task but is not there yet.
In a few years they'll get there for sure.
