Definitely Windows 7. I know some new games don't support Windows 7 anymore but considering the bugs that Microsoft engineer made (delete all your documents ...) I still prefer Windows 7 in 2018.

I personally am stuck with windows 7, but I have been trying to get Windows 10 for free. Anyone have any tips?

Re-install Windows 7 using the OEM method and then install W10 afterwards, it detects your 'legit' copy of Win7 and activates Win10.

Windows 10 runs a bit faster on my hardware however the interface and added telemetry really tempt me to downgrade

Windows 7 is what I'm still using, I've got no problem with 10 but 7 just already does everything I want it to do and I see no reason to upgrade yet. When the time comes for getting a new laptop though (which will be soon) I'll probably be putting 10 though only because of the hardware in it.
