You could always try Elite Dangerous and or Star Citizen.

I second that. Guild Wars is a great all around mmo without a monthly fee. The PVP isn't great, but it's better than most

Personally none of the suggestions so far, don't even get close to how good eso is.

You should definitely try Final Fantasy XIV Online. It's not pay to win. You don't need many charaters to play as many class, you can swap between classes. But it's not very good at pvp but they are adding new pvp contents.

Pvp wise, I don't know (I haven't gotten to that point yet) but I really enjoyed WoW, Tera, and BDO in the pvp aspect.

I have heard Witcher 3 is quite RPG type, and though I have yet to play it myself, It's rating is definitely good

World of Warcraft is you game I think. On a high pop pvp servers you have very often a pvp situation.

Runescape is still going good, still play it now and again, brings back nostalgia
