Well, I still can't pay with Bitcoins for example at the gas station. If I throw them a diamond on the table, they'll take it for sure.

Have you tried that? Usually paying for goods or gas in any state with alternative currency rather than the currency the state issues is illegal. But in my country for example, if i go to gas station and offer the worker bitcoin, they would make few calls and arrange that conversion for me, so i guess its depending on culture and creativity of people where you currently filling gas. I agree with you there. I hadn't thought of that. But I think the state would rather reintroduce diamonds than currency than Bitcoin.
