gmodstore opinions

do you guys like gmodstore?






in my opinion i think gmodstore is horrible... mainly because for example, you buy 120 Pounds In Scripts and you get banned for a dickhead leaking your shit or something like that then you get banned you cannot access ANY of your scripts and you are basically powerless and fucked mainly... the gmodstore staff are unprofessional,annoying( my experiences with them) and the owner just tells you to "Fuck Off" when you try to talk to him... also stupid creators can "revoke" your scripts without even refunding you... here is my opinion on it, but no one cares

I don't have those scripts, I've kinda went towards leaking a script, then modifying it with my own code, try to combine a few pieces of code, because I've found that for the most simplistic script they're charging a lot, and from what you've said, it's clear that they're self centred.

I like how it gives the ability to let modders make some sort of profit. But honestly I don't like it. I think mods need to be something that people make for fun and not for a profit.

I hate Gmodstore. I know it's good to pay devs and whatnot, but I feel like these scripts should just be public and they should have a donation button or something. From some quick maths I determined that VCmod has made about $100k USD. The addon is pretty much essential for any server and yet it's locked behind a $20-$25 paywall.

Do you know how much effort and time it to make my work seem "essencial"?

essencial? I didn't misspell it...

(just to clarify, I have nothing against you personally even if you are the real dev, I hate the Gmodstore not the developers trying to make money. I completely understand why you would want to do this)

From what I can tell you guys don't like it just because you're children and can't afford it. It shouldn't be someone else's problem that you don't understand how long it takes to make something like that and that sometimes people can't work on addons everyday if their just giving it away for free. Also you get banned for leaking and using leaks. It is your responsibility to make sure your addons dont get leaked and it is nobody's fault but yours.

I almost agree with your opinion. But still some creators of scripts want to make sure that their product was used and was necessary, for example:! Cake Anti-Cheat,! Blogs, serverguard menu. This is a very good anti-cheat which surpasses (in my opinion) other anti-cheats. The developer wanted to make such an anti-cheat so that cheaters could not harm YOU. He wanted to help you with this, and by buying his products you pay for the work that he did to help you. In my opinion, GMODSTORE is not exactly a garbage. :/

Imo, the administration is very "fuck off" like facepunch is, and while that could be good, people who they deem incompetent could be banned or whatever.
Gmodstore is a decent idea because it allows for developers to get money to live, and (most) developers love actually developing, so earning money for doing what you love is probably pretty great.
It just seems as if the administration are just kinda uptight and condescending I guess. But that's kind of the thing with gmod addon developers sometimes (and just with people) lol

and with VCMod, it's definitely not essential.
While it's nice, the developer has the full right to sell it for $1000000 or $0 lol
Of course people will leak it. But VCMod is a fucking hell of an addon. Think of it this way.
The developer takes a lot of time out of their day to make this amazing addon, but their only motivation is money, money rules the world.

Nobody particularly *wants* to spend all of their time just to release their hard work for free when they could be paying for it.
Not all the time, at least.

Another thing is that since devs are selling this shit for money, people expect it to be good.
So that means, they make it the best they can, and *usually* put major effort into it, maybe instead of making the config a lua file you gotta edit, then restart the server
they could implement more time into making an in game config or something, you know?

honestly 20 pounds is a good price for your addon cause its got so much features and its really realistic its still the most sold script on gmodstore... fuck the haters man ;D
