With the rise of digital streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal, the music industry, and specifically, hip hop, has seen a significant transformation. These platforms have certainly democratized music access, allowing lesser-known artists to reach global audiences.

However, it's also led to an oversaturation of the market, with an overwhelming volume of music being released every day. This could potentially make it harder for artists to stand out. Additionally, there's the controversy surrounding the fairness of streaming royalties, which often seem to favor the platform over the artist.

What are your thoughts on this? Has the rise of streaming platforms been more beneficial or detrimental to hip hop?

streaming platforms are definitely a good thing imo cus not everyone had the means or the availability to get their hands on cds or vinyls of their artists, now anyone can listen to anyone and that is amazing i think Smile

The purist within cries out 'more the merrier' but i do get that our digital ease of access has had an impact on the typical platforms for listening or acquiring music. But hasn't it always beent an evolving marketplace? I think maybe the part that numbs our brain is that the digital marketplace blew wide open the confines of typical physical medium right? Now instead of music numbness coming from buying a stack of discs via marketing scheme (ala buy 6 at regular price get 20 albums which likely will at least partially consist of lesser known artists or songs) ... now its like an ocean of potential music.

though mind numbing.. it seems like it ought to provide opportunity for many to stand out who probably never could have in the purely physical media age.
