You can't block but you can mitigate. You can use web firewall like fail2ban and cloudfare cdn to mitigate.
but if it targeted DDOS, you need to have some paid solutions to help you fight against it.

Edge protection like Cloudflare can be useful but sometimes that can't come in to support (services apart from HTTP/S don't support Cloudflare proxy usually like SSH, which shouldn't be exposed to the public anyway).

Try mitigating by using fail2ban or configuring your routers to drop packets on a suspected attack etc.

the best ways to defend urself agains a ddos attack is to use a vpn that way your internet wil still be online if you are targeted. if you don't have a vpn and are getting ddosed you can easily change your ip, well its easy depending on your isp. be safe kind sir

Limiting HTTP request is a good way and you can also use filters to let on into your server. Also, to keep it simple use CloudFlare. They are free and does a really good job when it comes to DDoS attacks.

If you have a dynamic IP, unplug your modem for an hour or so to get a new IP.

kick in your modem and you don't have an ip x)
more seriously if anyone has any other idea

Reset your router or do a hard reset/factory reset. A factory reset will reset all settings so make sure you know what will be affected. Also use a VPN or virtual private network so then people won't be able to get your ip.

If its your home connection thats getting DDoS'd I'd recommend using a VPN, they mitigate attacks really well.
