Normally, length of play is the key to getting better. So keep playing everyday or every other day, and you will soon see improvement.

4. apply learned strategy from the replay,
5. repeat 1.

Depends on the game. Learn the ins and outs of it, and if it is a shooter then simply download an aim trainer and develop your muscle memory more.

I get better at games by playing them and learning new metas

Play more and more until you either get better or you stop playing. Stopping to think what you could have done differently and actually trying to understand the game a bit better, learning strategy instead of mindlessly playing works as well.

Try to identify any bad habits you have picked up while play. I often find that I dont even notice some of the most important things i'm messing up
