Yes, it is classified as a sport, and I truly think it is one of the best sports. For someone, it's boring. For me, it's the best sport in terms of developing your strategic and tactical thinking. It will help you also improve your creativity and imagination. I've been playing it since I was a kid as my grandpa insisted that I have to learn this game and know everything about it. Now, my son adores this game as well, and he is even taking the courses at https://www.chessable.com/, and I can tell you he is improving dramatically.

It depends if you think using your brain as a physical activity, the competition and opponent is definitely there. I personally consider the brain a muscle and find the level of competition intriguing so yes its a sport

My criticism of DBS:
 1. The concept of SSJG and divine Ki. If it's so powerful, then why didn't Dai Kaioshin teach Gohan, Goku to generate and use them. Then it would make it easy to defeat Buu. Moreover, this does not require a ritual, because Vegeta reached SSJG/SSJB without it. Besides, why can't the Gods be detected? Goku could sense the Northern Kaio, who is a god, and Kakarotto did not possess God-Ki;

 2. Lame scaling of combat power. If in DB, DBZ, power levels made sense and were clearly spelled out in the plot, then in DBS, power is the plot armor;

 3. The power of SSJG, SSJB, PSSJB is greatly overestimated. It seems ridiculous that SSJG, which was indicated in BoG as the one who is stronger than Vegetto MSSJ, ended up being negligibly weak compared to Birus. Vegeta PSSJB post-Moro arch is still much weaker than Birus. As for me, this is a fanservice, which makes me doubt that SSJG>Vegetto. Scaling Goku SSJG from the BoG arch to the universal level is pointless, because shock waves are the result of the addition of the power of Birus and SSJG blows, and not just Goku. In addition, these waves could not destroy the universe instantly, but after a period of time. Simply put, SSJG scales, at most, as a multi-galaxy with the potential to universal;

 4. A more childlike atmosphere in DBS(mostly in anime), whose in DBZ. There is no blood, cruelty, and, consequently, there is no sense of tension in battles. Throughout the anime, there are, at most, 1-2 moments with fighters bleeding.;

 5. Bad plot. The first two arches were a poor parody of BoG and RoF with the worst animation, from which bloody tears flowed from the eyes. RoF arch was the first in which the meaning of God-Forms began to slowly but inevitably lose meaning. The tournament between U6 and U7 was the most boring of all that was in the whole DB. Black's arch was squalid. Why did Zamasu make himself immortal if he could make a wish to "destroy all mortals" or "become the strongest", which would solve all his problems? Super Dragonballs can bring back the universes that Zen-O erased during ToP, then it is unknown how strong Zamasu would become. Also in this arch, the value of Potara Earrings was killed. The Arch ToP (manga) was more or less a good one of those that were in DBS, but due to the reasons described in paragraph 4, there was no sense of threat, which was in the 22 and 23 Budokai Tenkaichi. The Moro Arch was almost an exact copy of the Frieza and Cell Arches. The Granola Arch seems silly, due to the fact that some flawed dragonballs were able to fulfill such a powerful desire, although the same earthly ones could not kill Nappa and Vegeta. This problem wouldn't have happened if Granola had used Super Dragonballs.

 6. The characters don't look like themselves compared to the manga/DBZ(original. American dubbing sucks in every sense, as in OST (heh, will OST be able to compare in quality, for example, with Unmei no Hi ~ Tamashii vs Tamashii~? hardly), and in translation and adaptation. And yes, this is one of the significant reasons for hatred towards DBGT). If in DB, DBZ, Goku made mistakes, but he was not an idiot and worried about his family, then DBS Goku does not care about anything except battles, that he was ready to put the multiverse at risk of destruction. Yes, yes, yes, "like saved", but it was already at the end of the ToP arch, not at the beginning. Vegeta turned from a proud warrior into a tsundere. The main pain is that Gohan has become weaker in a year than in the 7-year break between the Cell and Buu arches. Yes, in a year, because Goten and Trunks have not changed in appearance since the Buu saga. Villains are even more disappointing. I don't take Frieza into account, because this character has a good story arc in the original. Zamasu is extremely stupid. Jiren doesn't seem to be a villain, but his backstory is banal. Moro, as a character, is a combined hodgepodge of Frieza and Cell arches, with the predominance of the second.

 7. Creative impotence. All god-forms, including UI with MUI, are devoid of design originality. SSJ2 has a minimal difference between SSJ only in Goku and Vegeta, unlike Gohan, in whom it has a significant difference compared to SSJ. SSJG, UI, MUI is a recolored version of the base form, and SSJB is a recolored version of SSJ. The funny thing is that the fans created these forms long before the appearance of DBS itself.

 8. Plot holes and retcons. The legend of SSJ, the prehistory of SSJ, earrings and etc. were subjected to an unnecessary retcon.

 9. Unclear canon/non-canon distribution. What is the canon? Anime, manga or movies? The appearance of DBS and the attempt to canonize something created a lot of problems for the entire DB.

It is classed as a sport, as it is competitive and of course there are offical tournaments and trophies. Sport doesnt have to be physical. It's more of a sport than e-sports as it requires genuine skill, as opposed to say Fifa which is a terrible football game for kids.
