is kali linux good?

I think it is a great tool to use, but I personally like ubuntu, when using a linux vm. Especially if I am not using it for system exploit testing.

it's the right tool for all the right jobs...I have it dual boot on a tiny elitebook...I use Xubuntu for all my other linux needs

It is. because you'll know how machine works and since your KL is not user-friendly itll make you smarter/better in understanding PC

Kali linux is okay, but its somewhat dead. A lot of script kiddies will just use it/have it just to say they are a hacker. If you wanna get out of said crowd just make your own edits to a distro.
