So, I tried changing my login background and after locking my computer, I ended up with a black screen with only a cursor. :((

I tried everything I searched up but it won't work. I don't have any installation media either.

Can anyone help?

(also hello from an iPad Air)
yeah

Can't, thanks "Fast Startup". I tried using F8 to get it into safe mode.

It's probably something with your harddrive.

Not sure if it would work but try removing all the power from the laptop by removing the battery and power cable then hold the power button for 15 seconds.

EDIT: Are you by any chance running Windows 7?

If it works in safe mode then disable the background image and it'll work but if it shows black screen in safemode too then that will be a problem

The dreaded Windows 10 :rly:
Would be on Windows 7 if I could downgrade, but UEFI.

Download the ISO and make an installation DVD/USB. Boot to that, go into repair and command prompt then run diskpart to find your storage volume with Windows on it as it isn't always C:. Exit diskpart and run "chkdsk LETTER: /f /r" and "sfc /SCANNOW" if it lets you.
You should be able to reach system restore options through that as well, as well as reset and refresh options.
As for fast boot, your BIOS should have the ability to forcefully disable that. As well as disabling UEFI functionality.
If all else fails, keep interrupting Windows during boot until it triggers a self repair and hope that works.

You could also checkout EasyRE and torrent it.

If all that fails, throw it into a canal and walk away.

Thanks, Pulseeey. I got it fixed.

Also, is there any good if I disable UEFI?

If your Windows was setup with UEFI enabled, it most likely won't boot.
Otherwise it doesn't make that much of a difference.
