I use logic, i'm not a professional so I can't speak to how it compares to anything else but learning a bit of what it has available, and accessing jam packs if you can, goes a long way

I've used a variety of DAWs, and I've stuck with Ableton. It just makes sense. The workflow is pretty fast, which I like, and the built-in plugins are simple to understand and use, which I find is a core weakness of Logic Pro. I also think the way Live works with hardware is brilliant - there is no other DAW that can do what Ableton does with external MIDI sequencing.
