mate, never happened, just a publicity stunt, if they fix it why would they put it on the image for every update? they decide to publish the photo with "herobrine" in it just to get kids that play to believe it

It was (and still is) fake, but I wouldn't suprise if Mojang will add him as mob.

He became real by some nice modders, but anyway it's a running gag of mojang (see changelogs "- removed herobrine")
