I dont have any experience with VPS, but you could just get a free web host. freehosingnoads is a good choice. If your set on a VPS though you could contact your hosts and they should be happy to help you.

Also, if you dont have me on skype. You just go to the place where you bought your domain from > Go to dns > create an A record and point it to your ip. (it may take an hour, it may take up ti 48 max)
