It's a bit of both but more towards you working hard for it. If you don't work hard to be successful you ain't gonna be anywhere but you'd need luck getting into high paying jobs.

Success comes from hard work, patience, and dedication. Luck plays only a small factor in this since you still have to do stuff and get yourself out there to even get "lucky" in the first place.
