I like reddit. It has enough subs that I am always hitting into a new group if I get bored. I can just leave any toxic subs since I know there's going to be something interesting pop up. There are some bullies and bastards lurching through the subs but I've found that you can ignore them or piss them off by thanking them for their advice. Bullies can't stand it when their victim doesn't react in anger.

Depending on which sub you're checking out, it could either be a toxic cesspool or a friendly bunch of folks. I've met people IRL in some of the communities I've joined, and it was a fun experience for the most part with all the common interests we had. As a whole, however, your mileage may vary especially with some of the larger/unmoderated subreddits.

I use it because it is just so damn big, you find literally everything there. But it's pretty mainstream imo, and censored / limited.

I avoid the index site, recommended subreddits and only read that which interests me. 90% of the those communities have polite intelligent discussions. I wouldn't go near the political side of reddit. Great tool if used correctly

It's a really weird combination of useful and dodgy, like if wikepedia merged with a porn site, I dip in and out but could easily get lost in Reddit for days if not careful!

reddit is not a bad platform, it's just hard for your post to be among the first

This sums it up pretty nicely, some subs are fucked up to the core, some are straight up useful
