what is the best anime to start

I think the best anime to start with are tokyo ghoul and shingeki no kyojin, they are short and fluent.

Death Note, Sword art Online, Phichopassport -if u like mecha then Gundam 00 , Code Geass

I'd say Mob Psycho 100 to start with. Fairly short, well-made and, most importantly, concluded.

Dragon ball I started with it

If you're just starting, I'd definitely choose one that's relatively short. As great as they are, don't start with the likes of Dragon ball, One piece, Naruto, etc. They're far too long. Those series frequently have filler as they are made simultaneously with the manga and need to stop whenever they caught up. The longest series I'd recommend for a starting anime will be Fullmetal Alchemis: Brotherhood, since they actually maintain the pacing well through the series.

i started off watching sword art online and found it really interesting and found the plot to be very interesting as well, sword art had me hooked.

I think the anime "Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo" is perfect for a start. I advised my friends several times who have not watched the anime at all, and in the end they got very carried away after watching anime. I also started with him.
