I currently have an i7-8700k with but if you are looking for a budget good cpu for gaming and not much video creation i would get an i5-6400 or even a i5-6600k if you have more money to spend.

If you want to spend a lot of money on your upgrades then go for an Asus H370 motherboard and top it up with an Intel Core i7-8700k. If you also want graphics, then got for 1080.

i7 i go with an ASUS Mobo because i am soly in love with Asus. For gpu i stick with an Nvidia GPU. I know alot of people go for 1080's todate but you can get the same with 2 970's FTW editions. about the same price it's score is just a bit higher than 1 1080. As for ram i went with trident Z 4200 MHz.
