Best Version of Minecraft Server?

I honestly believe factions or towny is the best, it's kind of like DarkRP in minecraft, but way more added.

For PvP I would definitely say 1.8, however for the best Minecraft experience in survival and things like that, definitely the most latest.

I would disagree, the newer versions seem to also be stable as well, thus why there are videos and discussions on 2b2t (which is the longest running server ever) updating. They haven't for a long time because they preferred the stable editions of minecraft.
The only reason I'd stick with those is because a lot of mods use them and work with them. But a lot of those mods are still actively maintained as well, and support newer versions.

If you want newest version, 1,12,2 best choise i think

I will always love 1.7.10 but 1.6.4 is also a good one.

1.8 or 1.12.
I always use 1.8 on my servers.
If you are making like SMP u can use 1.13.2 1.12.2 1.15.2 1.14.4 etc

I used to love under 1.9 i think these versions have better combat system .

Well of course the most optimized is the latest, but for the best PvP and for minigames, 1.8 for sure.

1.8 - 1.12 are the best for running servers. The new ones are not optimized.

actually i use 1.14.4 on my server but i need a plugin (free) for reduce or eliminate the lag, the plugin is "EntityTrackerFixer"
