I think unity is the answer. Unreal is for big companies, not for newbies.

@valix: UE has a much cleaner WYSIWYG user interface and if you want fast results you just need to grab some asset or blueprint packs for your intended game type from the marketplace and voila!

One guy even created some kind of a Cyberpunk clone in just a few days with ue4 and there are some more examples of unpublished? projects in youtube, where some assets from the marketplace, kitbash, daz3d or reallusion cc3 have been mixed by "single person teams" in order to make some nice open world game prototypes.

The only disadvantage is that such games lack the "unique" look of true triple A games, which have unique and custom made characters, 3d assets, sound effects, music, animations, environments etc.. Many big studios even use their own "secret" engines, which are optimized for their specific type of game.

As someone who actively develops with Unreal Engine, I would say Unreal Engine :p

But for real there are many reasons why Unreal Engine is the ideal game engine to use right now.

Free to use, low royalties you will have to pay when you make money from the game.

Much easier barrier to entry as far as not knowing anything and being able to quickly learn and start making things.
This is mainly due to it's blueprints system and the fact the amount of tutorials and resources out there to learn pretty much anything is quite vast.

Also it's updated so often and has the sweet Fortnite money constantly pushing it forward.

Suck Try it and see. I preffer UE4. There are many books to study. You can start with "Unreal Engine 4 Game Development in 24 Hours" and "Blueprints Visual Scripting for Unreal Engine".

Unreal is pretty cool! It depends on what you want to do though, 2d games in Unreal can be a pain to start.

I think unity is the answer. Unreal is for big companies, not for newbies.

UE4 looks better (in my opinioin)

Like in your name, probably unreal engine 4! Pretty simple for some users and can get same insane graphics!

When I say in your name, I meant as in you have Unreal in your name lol, and it actually isn't that simple if i'm being honest
