Would be simpler to automatically purge when the account is closed, at least if the account meets certain conditions like less than one week registered so that if notable members accounts are closed they won't be purged.

We have a tool that purges the posts of a user. Also cuddles purges all users posts if they were detected as leechers.
We don't use the purge tool unless it's really necessary. Like said before, there's no point in deleting all users posts if they weren't banned for Spamming or Leeching. Also we've got no reason to purge a user that has been pretty HQ and then went to shit. It's like denying their existence. Also we leave some posts so, when it comes to appeals, we see what the user did. Otherwise it would be impossible for other Staff members to know what exactly the user posted.

So in the end it just comes down to: We can't filter out LQ posts upon certain criteria (unless you have a Staff member solely for that purpose)

Cuddles is smart ^^
How does he actually work? Does he look for certain keywords or what?

This is a very understandable and reasonable approach. I also don't see a need to, and I actually hope that showing banned users' posts would help set an example of what not to do on the forums.

Using keywords would trigger way to many false positives. We have a small algorithm in place that inspects the users posting behaviours unless they meet some criteria (which I won't leak).
And for the Copying and Pasting... what do you think?

Aisaka You could make a Deleted Posts forum where all purged posts get moved to when they're "deleted" and just make the category private with only staff able to see it. Not sure if mybb has that feature, another forum software does tho.
I made it so that whenever the user or an admin deletes a post, it lands into the "Archives Posts" section that only admins can see and that was the best of both worlds: users didn't see spam and trash posts and staff still had everything archived just in case.

We have a separate section called Trash. We also use it. but for spamming it'd just clog up our database :p

Aw shit I didn't know that. For a big forum like nbb it kinda would be a bit stressful on the database tho.

Also remember that threads are not directly posts. Yes, we could move posts to or actually merge them, but this would just create a big mess well lose control over tbh.

Yeah and once posts merge you can't divide them anymore if I remember correctly

Me being a Garrysmod player I pretty much know all about this. Basically, people have came from leakforums searching for leaks after they stopped their leak platform. These new accounts just want credits to get some addons. That's why their accounts are new.
