How many genders are there ?

This entire thread feels like a minefield.

Does it matter? Does it upset you if someone says they're not male or female? Why does it upset you? It's their business, not anyone else's.

Not the best way to frame thediscussion bc the consensus on gender (among actual scientists btw) is that its a spectrum and that the lack of there being a gender binary doesn't inherently suggest a defined number of genders. Gender is socially constructed anyway. Regardless I feel like this discussion is primarily had by people who should probably be asking themselves why it matters so much to them lol
