Is Hosting a Garrys Mod Server Even Worth It?

Like someone above said, to run a profitable and thriving community, you need to be unique, and over time you will eventually build a community.

When you get a couple of random people in your server after working on it forever and the are walking around looking at all the addons you put together. It is truly something magical.

I'm currently setting one up and owned many before. It is a interesting experience and it can be fun at times you can sometimes even make profit but I don't focus on that. If you get a server and set it up at the end its worth it. But thats up too you if your doing a DarkRP that would be tedious and hard to setup but reliving at the end, while others like Jailbreak, deathrun, or even prop hunt are easy.

Yes, only if you have the time to run it as it consumes a ton of it.

If you know what you doing, if you have idea for unique server and if you have a lot time, its so much worth

I personally think that if u try you will not be succesful at it, garry's mod servers are so unbalanced, some has more than 80 ppl while others has 10. Not even worth to pay for a server that will not give you profits. (My opinion)

You have to be unique to even think of becoming a popular server in Gmod now, If your not unique then you have to be lucky to be one of those generic servers that no one gives a shit about, but is popular. Gmod is mainly run by top tier communitys that have made it into a monopoly pretty much.

If you want to play with your friends and if you are sharing the costs yes ^^

At this point in time, don't run a hosting service for an RP server. Leave that to when you've got the money to own a decent dedi (preferably, with Linux). If you're just looking to host a random arcade server like Deathrun, TTT, Murder, Prop hunt and other stuff like that - Go for the 10 bucks a month. If you've got friends to mess about with, it can be a load of fun.
