I'm a musician who publishes to Spotify, Apple Music etc. but I still have a SoundCloud profile. Is it worth building up a following there now? It doesnt seem as active as it once was. Any soundcloud fans willing to convince me to put in the effort?

In a way, it is. Not due to bad service, but mostly due to the fact that people don't use often.

It isn't "dead", people use it to find smaller rappers that don't be on spotify. If you build up on soundcloud/spotify you got 2 money making methods

It's definitely alive for the underground hip hop communities, but unless that's your gig, I'd say stick to major services. Maybe consider something like DistroKid or TuneCore to streamline your distribution

Soundcloud used to be the go to until they killed it with their advertising model a few years back. Since then it's been on the decline. It feels like myspace now. Other options available, why use it.

I haven't used Soundcloud in a while now since they capped my uploads to 5 or so. Mixcloud all the way for unlimited uploads.

Not really, but it hasn't been generally in the spotlight as more and more apps and services offer better services than Soundcloud so. I mean, you can check it out yourself on Google Play store.

Yeah, agreeing with himawarx here, it's not really in the spotlight a lot, while others are such as Spotify for example, which is just too good in my opnion to be beaten. Like where is the volume key on SoundCloud hello?? xd
