Yes ou can buy skin, the price its very cheap

You can always cash them out for actual money (usually paypal) using third party sites so I don't see a huge downside, although these sites take a cut so you will never get 100% of what you paid back. Unless the skin dramatically increases in price.

I know Valve is a powerhouse in the gaming industry, and doesn't really need more money, but purchasing skins shows that you appreciate what Valve does. So it depends on your stance of Valve as a company, and Counter-strike as a game

Skins as an investment, I wouldn't recommend as the market can be more unstable and most the time you will either lose money or break even because the fee's will get most of it.
Skins for personal enjoyment, I can recommend, i sold most of my skins off recently as im going for a valve index but now i'm changing my weapon habits as i've found i enjoy having skins more than default.
Skins for showing off, Yea there good for showing off.

In my opinion it is worth it, it makes you play much better, in my case that happened, even though my skins are not expensive at all.

Well, it depends on whether you really want to spend a lot of money on it

I mean considering how much these people spend to get one weapon or a good knife. its kinda pointless. people laugh that they have a 200 knife but spend 500 to get it XD

It's not at all worth it. But if you're really enjoying CS and you want some pretty things to show off by all means dump some cash into it

I dont think so now it is really worth, few years ago you can get much profit from skins

My inventory is worth around 100 Euro and its kinda okay. Its enough to have cool skins but not enough to waste it.
