If you buy from Xiaomi, I think it's not risky unless the company install the backdoor. I think Samsung quite okay but many bloatware apps that you can't uninstall unless you root your phone.

I would not buy one. It's too dangerous to trust this kind of technology nowadays and they might spy on you

if you don't really care about privacy to begin with then just get one, it's unlikely anything is going on with your phone anyway

If you end up buying a phone from Wish or Aliexpress then you're taking a big risk. These phones are usually filled with malware, and typically have worse specs than what's listed. I just stick to name brand phones such as Samsung, LG, and Motorola if you're wanting a Android.

It depends on what kind of risk you are talking about, if you are more concerned about your data, then answer would be "Yes", as most of the Chinese phones come with pre-installed bloatware like custom browsers, cache cleaner, games, health apps and other utility apps that have all possible permission to your system. These bloatware store data about user preferences on Chinese servers, which can be later used for commercial as well military purpose

I'm using the Pocophone F1 for almost two years now and I'm more than satisfied. Outperforms many other phones.
