Is ethereum safe?

It's not the most private coin, but it has a lot of people using it.

I don't have any ethereum myself, but from what I've researched it seems fairly safe, unless encryption gets broken somehow. What might be more concerning is that they've had so much trouble scaling up, so that if it gets too popular then your ability to make a purchase with eth diminishes. It could take an hour before your purchase clears. That's just not a realistic replacement for money.

Ethereum is safe and mainstream. It will work for investment as a value store.

This is true it won't be useful for payment.

It's a safe currency sure but hardly used if you are looking into it as a payment system.

Crypto currencies are safe in general. If you want a very very safe currency , use BTC , but ETH are much more safer than normal money.
