Tomato is actually a fruit. Scientifically, the definitions of fruit define tomato as a fruit-- the definition of a fruit is very well defined in scientific literature.

It's a fruit. You can lookup plenty of research papers online who have dealt with this question.
But I don't want it in my fruit salad.

Like the famous saying goes.
Being smart is knowing tomato is a fruit. Being wise is not putting it in the fruit salad.
