Microsoft Edge

When Microsoft released Windows 10, they did a desperate attempt to save some of their browser market by introducing the world to "Microsoft Edge". Their new generation browser that would serve as an replacement for "Internet Explorer". It has had a.... Rough start to say the least. It suffered from many issues, but the one that I think it was wrongly accused for is the; "it is just the new IE, lawl" idea. Microsoft Edge is not a bad browser, and since it's launch, it has gained a great deal of support, in the form of extensions and new features that few browsers can match to this very date. Now I am not talking about subjective things such as design (despite the fact that I personally adore Edge's design), no I am more referring to things that Edge just does better.

Throughout my testing of different browsers the past 2-3 months, I have notice one thing that Edge seems to do better. Stability. The thing runs like butter from start to finish, even at heavy use it barely slows down. Compared to Opera, Chrome or Firefox whom all suffer from slow-down after a week of use, I'd say that is pretty remarkable. (Considering the fact that I don't run any other extensions on either browser, they all just run uOrigin.) In terms of what Edge can be used for, then it is a lot. It is a share center, a PDF reader that is unchallenged and several other things. It's bookmark management shits on most other browsers as it, to quote the all famous Todd Howard; "It just works".

My point is, Edge doesn't deserve half, or any of the shit it is getting. Yet people are still giving it shit because "it is just IE" despite the fact that it isn't. That is why I suggest, that if you are using Opera, Firefox or Chrome and want a new feel of a browser. Try to download a adblock extension to Edge and start it up. Try to use it as your daily driver for a month or two and see that it is very worthy of challenging Chrome, Opera and Firefox on a even playing field, despite what people would have you think.

I use Edge if I need to do something quick. If I am going to be sitting down for a while and doing things with my PC, I use Chrome. Edge is faster, Chrome takes a while to load but I do like chrome more. It's kinda just your personal preference.

Edge is a bit faster to launch than Chrome on mediocre PCs; however, it's general performance is slower.

Edge also seems less responsive and tends to freeze more than Chrome.

It's all a matter of opinion, though. It also depends on the rig that you're running.

Same! Google chrome is far more advanced, also Linus Tech Tips did a video which debunks the only thing that microsoft uses to praise there browser: Batter life.

I just dont like the way you interact with Edge compared to other browsers, it feels like a desperate attempt to modernize ( which i think it did ) but it feels a bit to modern for my liking if that makes sense . I also dont like how they force Cortana to use Edge and Bing >.>

I actually kind of like Edge, it has similar web rendering capabilities as other browsers (although a select few sites can be broken), and battery life isn't drained so much, which is important on bad laptops such as this one. However, Xubuntu 17.04 and Firefox seem to be rather more snappier!

I always use Edge for watching videos/streams because it feels more smooth. Opera for the rest.
