I personally dont think there should be any issue using the theme you only have set it protected

I once installed a nulled them and it began showing ads on my site, I removed the theme and the ads continued.

just check the theme if it has backdoor or backlinks then it would be safe otherwise don't use it.

Basically, yes, nulled themes can be used.
But only from trustworthy source.

use a nulled theme is a good way to test it.

Pros : You can get it for free.
Cons : It is not safe.

Nulled themes or open source themes have same risk, though in nulled themes risk are higher as in many cases hackers bind the code with the exploit and leave it on internet and your site get hacked with your confidential data.

Either used free Open source theme from official sources or better buy with a one time investment if you are running a legitimate business, for a dummy or shell business you can just keep it on go just like that with a nulled theme just try some paid plugins for security addons Wink

I've already used null themes that gave me a big problem. But if I download from reliable sources I believe that it does not have problem for you. Only for the developer XD

I still use nulled script, /themes I do have backup for my website, just do be careful
