I make music, dabble in graphic design, take pictures, fashion...all arts related. I will say that involving myself in the arts has really helped me out with fighting depression. I have taken many losses pursuing my dreams per se but still I can't leave the arts alone. I can only tell you to continue to do what you do, what you love..because the money will follow. It's like we lose our inspiration with it when we put the money factor first.
I paint D&D miniatures because it was frustrating trying to find pre-painted ones that matched my character ideas, and because the act of painting made me more excited to play those characters later. Since I don't have a consistent gaming group, painting helped tide me over during the long droughts between game/campaigns.
Wish i could one day make money of art.. or actually have a designer type of job. Until then it's purely to improve skills and hopely create something that I or somebody else would want a poster of on their wall!
I'm just starting to learn to draw, but I;m doing it because it seems like a fun skill to have. Many of my friends are really good at art and I wanna be in that club
I draw for myself, almost exclusively as a communication tool. For example, I draw my D&D character so I can show my party what she looks like. Pretty boring, but it helps me not to get burnt out.
