Should 4chan be shut down?

4chan is a good place but people don't use as they should too... the problem of the freedom...

Yes, I agree that sometimes they can be very funny, but very confusing for others, but I think that this should not be prohibited, because people can do what they want

I don't think it should since it has very informative stuff on it, but I think it should definitely be toned town and censored to an extend.

4chan used to b huge ages ago, it should be better moderated or curated if at all

I don't really think it should be shutdown, its "freedom of speech" taken to an extreme, if some users do illegal stuff, the users should be "punished" not the website.

Yeah probably--it's a more complicated discussion what a government's role should be in restricting websites, and the effects of precedent and chilling that could cause. But we mostly agree they should shut down CP sites, and 4chan has had plenty--as well as sites that support terrorism, and 4chan has been vital for stochastic right wing, the type of terrorism that account for most terrorism in the US.

Plus, government isn't the only actor who can intervene--ISPs and hosts restrict nazi hives like Stormfront.

If the question is just, does 4chan deserve to exist/is it redeemable--no. Any fun anime discussions or whatever, you can have at plenty of other places. Its unique value is a place for nazis to radicalize insecure, sexless, mentally ill boys, and prevent them from learning to socialize and adjust in healthy ways. If you use 4chan, go cold turkey and find new places to socialize and build your identity.
