sony vegas get the job done on many occasions but today I am leaning more toward final cut pro!

Pretty significant difference there. After Effects is mostly used for special FX etc. While Sony Vegas is mostly for basic video editing. A better comparison would be: Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere

Well the pourpose of Vegas and AF are quite different so there's no point in comparing them Right?

I prefer Sony Vegas, I think it depends a lot on the type of use because the two have different tools in each mode, it will depend a lot on what you want to use and enjoy Smile

After effects and Vegas really serve two different functions. It depends if youre doing special effects or just plain old editing

Sony Vegas is a non-linear editing program. Adobe After Effects is an effect creation program. Sony Vegas can be compared to Adobe Premiere. I worked in all these programs.
Sony Vegas is easier to learn.
Adobe Premiere has more features and also integrates with other Adobe products.
Adobe After Effects allows you to create high-quality visual effects. But it has a high barrier to entry.
Because I have a lot of experience working with the Adobe Family I like Adobe Premiere. Smile
